Why You Need Well Drilling Services for Your Virginia Peninsula Home
There are many benefits of a new well for your home. As mentioned, you can save greatly on utility bills with well water.
Additionally, a home well can provide clean, healthy water whenever you need it. If your city water becomes contaminated or limited for any reason, you don’t need to worry. Your well is separate to those utilities, meaning it won’t be affected when they are.

Types of Water Pumps
There are a variety of water pumps that have their own advantages and disadvantages for supporting your home in the Virginia Peninsula. We have a breakdown of each type to help you make a more informed decision.
Shallow Well Jet Pumps
Shallow well jet pumps are a type of water pump commonly used in residences where there is no access to a city water supply. They are the first part of the well-water purification system, pulling the water up from the ground. They are the simplest and least expensive form of well pump on the market and their only drawback is that they can not draw water from more than 25 feet below ground level.
Deep Well Jet Pumps
Deep Well Jet Pumps or “packer type systems” are typically used in areas of higher elevation above the water table where shallow well pumps are no longer adequate. These installations are less expensive than submersible pumps but are less efficient and more costly to operate and maintain. We also offer yearly maintenance contracts for domestic drinking water systems and yard well pumps.
Submersible Pumps
A submersible pump (or sub pump, electric submersible pump (ESP)) is a device which has a hermetically sealed motor close-coupled to the pump body. The whole assembly is submerged in the fluid to be pumped. The main advantage of this type of pump is that it prevents pump cavitation, a problem associated with a high elevation difference between pump and the fluid surface. Submersible pumps push fluid to the surface as opposed to jet pumps having to pull fluids. Submersibles are more efficient than jet pumps.
Centrifugal Pumps
Centrifugal pumps are used to transport fluids by the conversion of rotational kinetic energy to the hydrodynamic energy of the fluid flow. The rotational energy typically comes from an engine or electric motor. This is typically used on farm and other agricultural settings.
The Well Drilling Process
When drilling your well, the expert technicians at Worley’s Home Services follow a safe, detailed process. Everything starts with planning. That way, we understand your home layout, the water table in your area, and any permits needed to complete this process.
Step One
We prepare the site for drilling your well. We clear the area of any debris or impediments, making it easier to complete the process safely and effectively.
Step Two
After the preparation is complete, we drill your well. We use a well-drilling rig to bore a hole through soil, rock, and sediment. The hole goes anywhere from 100 to 500 feet deep, depending on your needs and how far we must go to reach the water.
Step Three
We then add a casing and screen to prevent collapses and filter your water. Once set, we install your water pump and complete the well and cap it to prevent insects and other contaminants from entering.
Lastly, we inspect the well for quality. This includes structural integrity and cleanliness of water to ensure you receive nothing less than the best.
